As the whistle went

As the whistle went to start the game the sky looked ominous and the heavens opened. Thankfully it was a short sharp shower, and whilst the cloud seemed to lift for most, Sandy seemed to have her very own black cloud shadowing her and she was a demon in attack and defence.
The first half saw some good attacking moves up the right flank, with Henna and Flo combining well and using the space they were given. We looked most dangerous when we got the ball wide and sent in some good crosses, though the fist goal came from a break by Trina, who, most unusually, and much to her relief, struck the ball sweetly at the top of the D to give their goalie no chance. Credit for the second goal went to Henna (her first goal for the 4's) as she battled hard to ensure the ball crossed the goal line.
Half time gave us an opportunity to regroup and focus on the game rather than some very questionable decisions at one end. Ant, encouraged by our very vocal GK, took control of the players around her, ensuring the gaps were covered as Oxford launched attack after attack. Amanda and Audrey, aided by Janice and Flo, were determined in defence and soon we were on the attack again. Sandy's world brightened and she played some lovely passes into the path of the very persistent Mary. One of the attacks resulted in a goal for Liv, and in the dying moments of the game, Janice deflected a short corner into the top of the net to make it 4-0 to us (at least I think that was what happened, judging by the celebrations).
Many thanks to our travelling supporters Sally, Casey, Dipesh and Pete - it was never going to be a silent sideline with the later 2 in tandem! Man of the match was again a split vote to Ant, Henna and Flo.
