... and wins praise from her Dad,

who is also our most avid supporter, sub master supreme but notoriously reticent on praising his daughter directly. But believe me Henna, he is so proud of you, and can see, as we all do, how much you have come along this season. Well done and keep up the good work.

Enough gush - back to the game. The 10-1 scoreline was very pleasing but didn't really do justice to the game. Abingdon had a trio of playmakers who ran us ragged, showing a turn of pace not often seen in our team! Thankfully our defenders were resolute save the slight lapse of concentration which allowed them to sneak the ball past Fran. At 6-1 up at half time (2 each from Tracy H and Trina, 1 from Liz and Liv), the only real surprise was that Sandy was not on the score sheet. This was duly noted in the half time team talk, and never one to shy from a challenge, Sandy duly delivered a hat trick in the second half with Liz adding the final flourish to take the goal tally to double figures.

The last 20 minutes of the game were certainly the best, as the forward unit began working as a team and looked to create chances rather than hit and hope. It was no coincidence that by this stage 'where's Wally' aka Janice, making a welcome return to the side after a long illness, was playing further up the pitch and encouraging others to use the whole width of the field.

Match teas at a local pub were most welcome and rather yummy. Thank you Abingdon for being such welcome hosts.
