A fast, fit, youthful & very skilful team…
Unfortunately that was our opposition when we trawled up the M40 on a miserable, grey day to play Banbury 4’s.
Due to injuries and unavailability in our team and 4’s players needed in teams further up the club, we had players joining us whom we hadn’t had the chance of playing with regularly. Whilst everyone gave their all, the unfamiliarity plus lack of fitness showed in our game and Banbury took at advantage – 7 times.
However, there were still flashes of the ‘fabulousness’ of the Fabulous 4’s and some great performances.
Nicky (The Cat) bounced & sprang around the goal (do cats bounce? Please don’t try and find out) and saved so many shots that had she not the score would have been higher than I can count.
Duracell Ant kept going and going in the centre of midfield and Lightening Liz did her stuff down the wing. Co MOM Amanda (just call me Scrappy) C was terrier-like fighting for the ball.
Captain for the day and co MOM Amanda (Pickaxe) MB made some great ‘picks’ in tackles and ‘axed’ many surges into the ‘D’ (see what I did there?).
Helen C and Emily S were our guest stars and were just that – thank you for playing with us, hope you will again.
After a team talk by Capt MB, we devised a game plan for the second half, creating a net around our ‘D’ which, I am proud to say we executed quite well until we tired (Banbury only scored 2 in the 2nd half).
So well played all and thanks to our subs manager Dipesh and Hugh, Liz’s husband, for supporting us – sorry the game and the weather weren’t better.
