Road trip to the lovely Milton Keynes. Plenty of traffic, midday start, slight breeze (!) and no goal keeper.
A stirring team talk from our beloved Captain on the important of a) getting 3 points and b) enjoying the game and c) Liz scoring and we were off.
Boyed by the fact that we now had a kicking back in the shape of our last minute guest star, Nicky, we were quite awesome frankly.
From the solid defending at the back to our passing play through the midfield up to our forwards we had most of the procession in the first half. Unfortunately we couldn’t turn this into goals and so started the second half still at 0-0. We kept up the high level of play and hard work in the second half. Liz had taken to heart the team talk, plus the thought of being ahead of Sandy as top goal scorer, and she did what she had to do and we were 1 up!
Katie, one of our new players, was not to be outdone though and followed Liz’s example and scored a fantastic second goal.
MK managed to sneak one back in the last 90 seconds, but most importantly we had our first win!
MOM was Janice and DOD was Mary who had managed to lock her daughter in the camper van in the MK car park so had to rush off and rescue her.
Thanks again to Nicky for playing kicking back and getting so cold – we appreciated it.
