About the team

The new season is expected starts on Sunday 5th September .

Our youth hockey section is the ‘The Next Generation’ and we provide a safe and fun environment where young players from the age of 5 to 18 can learn and enjoy hockey.

MINIS' GENERAL INFORMATION
We welcome girls and boys from age 5 to 10 (School years 1 to 5) in the Reading Minis. No-one needs to have played hockey before as our sessions cater for all abilities. All that is required is the enthusiasm to want to get active and find out about hockey. Anyone can come along and join in 2 taster sessions before deciding whether hockey and Reading is right for them and we can often provide hockey sticks for trial sessions which will be disinfected in line with hygiene guidance. Don’t forget your shin pads and mouth guard, you will not be allowed train or play without them.

All new players are welcome to join us on a Sunday at the time shown below. Contact the Reading Hockey Colts Admin email: coltsadmin@readinghockeyclub.org.uk for further details, including 'taster sessions', subscriptions and how to join.
Registration 15 mins before the session starts.
U8s - 9am to 10.15am
U10s – 9am to 10.15am

In addition, the Mid-week Minis for U8 and U10s is Mondays at 6pm expected to start on Sept 6th. These additional sessions are available as an extra offering to Sunday Members and for non Sunday Members.

For information on the Minis and older age groups please see Colts Section page

For your pitch allocation please check the website for pitch allocations prior to the Sunday or the white board on the side of the clubhouse on arrival.
Parking for the the 'Cage', Sonning Lane Water (SLW) and Sonning Lane Sand (SLS) pitches is at Reading Hockey Club. When allocated the Sonning pitch (the furthest from the Reading HC clubhouse), please park in the car park at Sonning HC.

Our Hungry Hut will be open from 9.00 for refreshments including the delicious breakfast butties. This is situated by the Reading HC clubhouse and SLW pitch.

IMPORTANT: Parents and guardians of children in the Minis U8 and U10 sessions are expected to remain on site throughout the training session (and at matches) in case of emergency. Parents and guardians of ages U12 and above are expected to be within 15 minutes (arrival at the pitch side) travel time in case of emergency. It is the responsibility of the parents and guardians to ensure all their membership details for themselves and their children on our members database (pitchero) are current and that they are capable of being contacted during training sessions or matches. This membership detail includes all medical and contact details.

Registration – Children in age groups U8 and U10 are registered in and out of sessions at Reading HC. A child’s parent or guardian must accompany their child to the designated registration point by the side of the pitch and collect their child at that same registration point at the end of the session.
Please see the Colts Section for further information including subscriptions

Further details of the hockey sessions, festivals played and subscriptions can be found on the team pages for U8 and U10
