Match report from Nora Shields
On Sunday December 9th, the GU16 Revels played the Henley Hockey Club. This was an important match as it decided who would be at the top of the league table for this half of the season. We started off slow and we conceded an unlucky goal in the first few minutes. After this, we bucked up and got our heads in the game, scoring two quick goals, courtesy of Megan. We had some strong play down the left hand side and some good transfers around the back, showing how much we have grown as a team, using good communication. After the first half, we were up by one goal, but that didn’t mean we could rest. At the beginning of the first half, we could see that Henley were hungry to score a goal, and they managed to just creep one over the line, evening out the score. After that, we stepped up our game, scoring three consecutive goals. These were from Megan, Keira and Milly. Although we had a three point lead, we still fought to make sure we secured a win, and we managed to hold out until the end of the game. Meaning a score of 5-2 in our favour. The whole team has improved greatly over the season, and this is shown through the score of what has proven to be our most difficult game. The player of the match was awarded to Megan, which was very well deserved, as she had an amazing game, with a hat trick to boot. Well done to the whole team for a fabulous performance.

Just a quick note to say well done and again showing great team work and commitment from all to comeback from a goal down. You composed yourselves and then looked to assert yourselves on the game growing in confidence and working together to get a well deserved win. You should enjoy your break and I look forward to you all coming back with the same positive attitude and commitment to play together as a team and continue to improve your standard of hockey each fixture - as like you our opponents are improving as the season progresses. I hope you all have enjoyed the games and first half of the season and are looking forward to 2019. If you are interested in the table this can be found in the link below - well done as you thoroughly deserved all your wins and increasingly creating more space on the pitch with your off the ball movement. Finally thanks for listening to Josh at half time and executing what he said by transferring and attacking down the right - which resulted in increased ball retention, possession and ultimately goals. Thanks again and enjoy your break.
