Weekend Preview

Mens 1'S Update:
CHRIS NEWMAN, having flown back from Australia earlier this week, returns to the Reading squad for their two games this weekend.
Blues face Canterbury at Sonning Lane in the NOW: Pensions League tomorrow (6.30pm) and then Ramgarhia in the EH Cup at Southall on Sunday (1.30pm).
Newman, 24, will also take over the captaincy, as Richard Springham is not available this week.
Last weekend Newman helped Perth-based YMCC defeat University of Western Australia 2-1 in Melville Toyota League Cup final.
Both goals were scored by five-times FIH World Player of the Year Jamie Dwyer, with his winner coming just before the end of extra time.
Newman will be in the Reading attack tomorrow as they seek their first win of the season following a 3-1 defeat by Surbiton and 5-2 by East Grinstead last weekend.
Four of the EG goals came from penalty corners and coach Andy Watts will be demanding that his players do not concede as many corners to Canterbury.
The Kent side are also still awaiting their first win of the new campaign.
Watts is set to play himself in Sunday’s cup tie, along with several of the club’s talented youngsters.
Canadian under-21 keeper Kevin Pereira will make his debut for the Blues, along with Todd Freeman, a recent signing from Havant.

Ladies 1'S Update:
Like the men, Reading Women are also still awaiting their first win of the season following a goalless draw at champions Surbiton and a 1-0 home defeat by Clifton last Saturday.
They face Canterbury away tomorrow (5pm) and will be without skipper Emma Thomas, now a qualified doctor, due to work commitments. Welsh international Tina Evans, a new signing from University of Birmingham, will make her debut, having recovered from an ankle injury.
Despite a midweek injury scare, Abi Harper should be fit, but Wiz Hunt, who has yet to play this season, remains doubtful.
Holly Raby and Poppy Martin both return to the squad.

v Canterbury 16:00 Away : Ellis, Harper, Evans, Barnes, Maguire, Wilkinson, Gilbert, Caddick, Jones, Daly, Halle, Cockburn, Hunt, Martin, Raby.
