Rob Foxall-Smith Named as Reading Hockey Club Women’s 1st XI Head Coach

Reading Hockey Club has today named Rob Foxall-Smith as their new Women’s 1st XI Head Coach.

He joins Reading having been Head of Ladies’ Performance at Team Bath Buccaneers last season as well as Lead Coach - Ladies’ Performance at the University of Bath - a role he will continue in alongside his role with Reading. In addition, Rob will continue as Head Coach for England Over 35 Ladies.

On the appointment, Foxall-Smith said: “Reading is part of the fabric of English hockey and it is a privilege to be joining a place with such a proud tradition of excellence. The Club, and this playing group, have all the tools to be a force at the top of the game again and I am excited to get to work in realising that ambition."

Tim Hunt, Chair of Reading Hockey Club said: “Rob’s credentials and passion for the role stood out from his first contact with the Club and throughout the process. I am delighted that a coach of such calibre and whose coaching path is on such a positive trajectory has chosen to take on this role. I know the whole Club is looking forward to welcoming Rob and to seeing our Women’s 1st XI continue to progress in the Premier Division.”

Foxall-Smith will begin working with the playing group at Reading immediately as they prepare for pre-season and another full season in the EH Premier Division.

Reading Hockey Club is one of the premier hockey clubs in the country. We were formed in 1904, and joined with the our Cricket section in 1959. The Club enjoys a high profile throughout national and local media, with both our Men’s & Women’s 1st teams playing in the England Hockey Premier Division

Reading Hockey Club runs 12 men’s teams, 8 ladies' teams and has a flourishing Junior section. Our youngest playing member is 5 years old and our oldest is over 70! We have international players ranging from U16's to full internationals, plus a number of Veterans and Masters, all playing for their countries.

Reading Hockey Club has over 400 senior and 600 junior members and is based at a top class facility in Sonning Lane, where we have been since 1984.
