Season Opener

Last weekend the newly promoted 3s team kicked off their season against OMT 1s. Coming into the new league the squad knew this was going to be step up from last season, playing against mainly first teams who all are all usually very well organise. This proved to be the case as the new team took some time to find their feet and unfortunately conceded an early goal. A great deflection from Cam Beazley-Clarke drew them level before OMT capitalised on a slow reaction from Reading to take them ahead once again. At 2-1 down Reading managed to draw a foot in the opposition D to get a short corner with very little time left in the first half, Huw Kimber flicked from the top and managed to draw them level to take them in at 2-2 at half time .

In what turned out to be an extremely scrappy 2nd half Joe Rogers took Reading ahead from a short corner drag flick that left the keeper stunned as it passed over his right shoulder with a lot of pace. The 2nd half also saw a great goal line save from Phil Walden on a defensive short and Dan Hulbert take a green then yellow cards for some questionable tackles which he assures us were absolutely fine.

Reading finished the game with a 3-2 win with Jack Hitchins taking man of the match for an outstanding effort between the posts and Will Thomson with DOD for an open goal miss at the back post. A promising start to the season with the team looking to improve in their game away at Wallingford this weekend.

Dan Hulbert remains goalless.
