In the millions of possible universes there is one where I am a successful music producer. And maybe there is one where we won this game, but maybe not. Top of the table vs (nearly) bottom sometimes produce great results for the underdog . Last week for example where the M6s frustrated a second-in-the-table Newbury and came out with a hugely satisfying 2-2. I didn't play last week (so no match report); clearly I took David's place on the teamsheet because this week Goliath did exactly what you'd expect.
Marlow 5s are a really good side, and do everything you'd expect a good side to do. They went 2-0 up fairly early on. For the second quarter we held our own and played some pretty good hockey. But their halftime chat was clearly effective and they dominated the second half. 6-0 at the end.
Marlow 5s are a really good side, and do a few things you'd hope a good side wouldn't do (particularly with the game won). There was a lot of unpunished (and unnecessary) rough stuff. And my word the whinging. To be fair the cards did eventually come out but at 4-0 up with 15 to play this was never going to change anything.
So in summary, we were outplayed by a better, more organised team. But we were definitely not outclassed. There are positives to take away from this.
