Not a virtuoso Redsox performance but good enough to win comfortably with, like last week, 2 late goals for the opposition in the last 5 mins.
Tulse Hill started strongly but it did not take long for the Redsox to find their feet and within 25 minutes were 3-0 up with some clean interplay amongst the forwards (often after we were given the ball in their half) leading to some good team goals with David Hudson and Hunty getting the final touches. Tulse Hill then scored with a short corner before Immy broke away and set up Hunty for his second. So 4-1 at half time and relatively in control, although we continued to be guilty of over-complicating it and giving away cheap possession….
While we hoped to correct this in the 2nd half it didn’t quite happen and the game became a bit scrappy. Immy scored a good individual goal as he slipped it under the keeper into the corner and then Terry, looking to smack the ball to the next county, managed to completely deceive the goalkeeper and saw his shot dribble into the corner. With the score at 6-1, and the match effectively won, rather than control the game and keep possession we started to do the opposite and got caught out with 2 good finishes by Tulse Hill (and it could easily have been 3…)
Until those last few minutes the defence look solid throughout. Armo worked hard in midfield and kept Precious pretty quiet and Immy returned after nearly 2 years showing a good first touch and some of his old magic – our joint men of the match.
Phil and Mike K umpired the game extremely well and kept everyone in control. Thanks also to the clubhouse team for enabling us to enjoy a couple of beers and tea after the match – hopefully we will be able to continue to do so….
The day was finished off watching the Rustlers get over the line against OCs – well done to them.
The League table looks good – especially having played 2 of the other 3 teams in the top 4.
