The Super Vets / Relics got the league season off to a flying start with a 7-0 win at home to H & W.
With captain Micky away on international duties a strong side was assembled, and it soon paid off, as Tim Armitage opened the scoring
with a deft deflection into the roof of the net.
Mike Pell made it two from a short corner strike and Richard Mannix slotted home the next corner as Bob rounded the defence to put him in.
The ever threatening Armitage got his second as the H&W defence could not cope with his pace and reach.
At this point the impregnable Boothers in goal, made a string of saves (well two) from short corners before, at the other end, Bob drew the keeper and set up Armitage for his hat trick. 5-0 at half time.
After the break H&W gained reinforcements and had their best spell for ten minutes, but with Charles and Graham holding firm in the centre of defence, and Boothers called into action again, they failed to score.
Normal service was resumed as Laurence strode into the D and crashed home a fine indivdual goal. Pelly scored a second corner to make it 7 and round off a fine team effort and leave the relics top of the table, a position they intend to keep!
