Umpires Corner 5 of 6

5. Who's our umpire today ?

Getting the Right Umpires on the Right Game

Every week the club plays a game of jenga to ensure that every team has enough players at the right skill level for the game they are going to play......it is no different for allocation of umpires to games!

Getting the right umpires to the right games is just as important and just as difficult at times !

Throughout the season players have been thrown a whistle and told - your doing our game ! As a club we want to eliminate this "toss of a coin" attitude to games being umpired.

To do this we need to put in place a pool of umpires that are allocated to games on a weekly / monthly basis, so it is not a surprise to players when they turn up at their game and instead of being the one who scores the hat-trick or saving the last minute on the line short corner shot, they are the one being shouted at for not blowing the whistle !!

There is a small band of umpires that turn out every week to umpire one, two or even three games, and we need to help these hero's out !!

Essentially this whole umpire development is being put in place to help ensure that those being put into the pool of umpires, or being thrown that whistle can do it will a degree of confidence and know that there is somewhere to go to ask for support.
